Mcloughlin Bros’ Dissected Map of the United States. Ca. 1890. Wooden box, 8 x 10 x 2 ½ w/ affixed paper lithograph top cover. The puzzle, measuring 15 x21, has the United States on one side and a b/w map of the world on the other. The puzzle is complete, exhibits some use and wear, but overall very good condition. The box is solid, the cover is a tad dark, shows wear, with two small pieces missing from the perimeter. There is also foldout map, in disrepair, with old repairs on back. There is an inscription inside the box for Christmas 1891 (the map still shows the Dakotas prior the division of north and south, which occurred in 1890).
McLoughlin Bros. was based in New York City, and was established in the mid 1850s. The firm was a pioneer in the use of color printing processes in children’s books, puzzles, and toys. In 1920 it was purchased by Milton Bradley.

Buyer is responsible for all return shipping costs. Refunds issued according to the method of payment.
