Lyon Nebraska, Walt Peabody (Peabody Studio), 1890-1910, Cabinet Photograph

Good

Cabinet photograph of an Omaha or Ponca Indian family inside a room in their home. Photograph by Walt Peabody (Peabody Studio) in Lyons Nebraska. The five family members are dressed in nice clothing. Nothing fancy or ornate, but clean and nice. The Peabody Studio was a late 19th-century photography operation in Lyons, Nebraska. Run by photographer Walt Peabody, the studio is highly regarded for its extensive historical documentation of the Omaha and Ponca Native American tribes during the 1890s and 1910s. Walt Peabody captured hundreds of powerful, dignified portraits of Native American braves, families, and community members. These images act as crucial historical archives documenting traditional regalia, daily life, and the culture of indigenous peoples in northeast Nebraska. The studio captured stunning portraits of Indigenous families, braves, and community leaders directly on and around the Omaha Indian Reservation. The image is 5” x 7” and 7 ¾” x 9 ¾”. The image has some light spotting. One spot on the mount near the studio name. In that same studio name the city name is damaged, but I am very confident it is Lyons. See scans. Back is blank.
