Opening of the Indian Reservtions on the Line of the Great Northern Railway. Published by the Great Northern Railway. Folded brochure describing the lands that were made available sold by the Native Americans to the U S Government for $1,000,000. The Act of February 20, 1904 authorized the sale and opening of over 250,000 acres of the western portion of the Red Lake Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota to non-Indian settlement. In 1902 James McLaughlin, United States Indian inspector, did, on the tenth day of March, make and conclude an agreement with the adult male Indians of the Red Lake Reservation. The brochure includes a four panel map showing Government lands (A), Reservation lands open to entry (C), and Reservation lands to be sold t auction (D). 4” x 8 ¾” and 16 total pages. Stamped by A C Harvey Passenger agent in Philadelphia. This brochure is rough and worn but complete. The map shows rust from staples that are no longer there. Rough edges. Still a scarce map and piece of history.
