1845 Belgian Trade Card, lithographed by Louis Martin Defferrez (1815-1872) in Ghent (Gand) Belgium. The so-called porcelain finish is produced by a white lead covering on the card stock, and pressure after the tinted lithograph is printed. This card was produced for the members of the Royal Botanical Society, and distributed at their 1845 concert at their Casino in Ghent. A balloon ascension in the background was a popular attraction (and still is, in that city). 7”x4.75”
