Montreal, Canada, Notman Photographic co., 1880
silverfish damage as shown
1880 order form for photographs of the graduating class of Dartmouth College, as well as other photographs of views, undergraduates, etc. Notman Photographic Co. based in Montreal. Penciled numbers beside the names apparently refer to the order in which the ordered photographs would appear in an album, beginning with C.A. Young, who may have made the order. Charles Augustus Young had been a professor of astronomy at Dartmouth, and had published in the college paper, but had moved to Princeton in 1877. He was still considered an officer of Dartmouth. Other additions include the death dates of two of the students, and, at top, the name W. B. Fellows, Sandwich Centre N.H. who was a graduate as of June 24. William Bainbridge Fellows (1858-1920) became an important NH lawyer. 4 pages, the last being an unsigned order form. Laid paper, folded to 7.75”x10” [silverfish damage as shown]
