Chicago, Chicago Seed, 1968 etc., Broadsheet newspapers
Very good
Seven issues of The Seed from the late '60s. For my money, the best covers ever from the underground or alternative press. The paper outdid itself in influence when Chicago became the nexus for the antiwar and social protest movement at the 1968 Democratic Convention. We offer the following, close to the last of a wonderful trove: They were stored flat and there are no cross folds. Some issues are oddly incomplete beyond misnumbering, we suspect that at least in some cases the mssing pages were pullouts.
Vol. 4, no. 13. Statue of Liberty as a death's head. 32 pp. Back cover has Outlaws of America trading cards.
Vol. 8, no. 2. Mayor Daly. 32 pp. Short tear in right margin of cover page. George Herriman Krazy Kat comic strip reproduced along the bottom edge of 9 pp.
Vol. 5, no. 10. 32 pp. You tell me. Timothy Leary?
Vol. 3, no. 1. Super Comix issue. Some strikeouts on cover - intentional corrections? Incomplete, pp. 1-4 and 21-24.
Vol. 2, no. 13. Police as pig. 12 pp. Pagination does not make sense, e.g., p. 8 is numbered p. 6, not all pages are numbered, but appears complete. Back cover full graphic. Part of a cutup page laid in, whether from this issue or another we do not know. Last pages not numbered, total of 12 pp.
Extra (no issue number ), Pagination jumps from p. 6 to p. 19.
Vol. 2, no. 9. Yippe! Pagination jumps from p. 10 to p. 15.
