Cherniavsky, Mikhail Petrovich (1822–1872).
Genealogy of the Noble Families Entered in the Genealogical Book of the Tver Province from 1787 to 1869, with Alphabetical Index and Appendix.
Tver: [Provincial Government Press], 1869. — XIII, 219 leaves; Folio [34 × 48 cm.]
Completely lithographed edition. Print run limited to 150 copies.
A monumental genealogical work by Mikhail Petrovich Cherniavsky, one of the first systematic compilations of noble genealogies of the Tver Province. Based on official data from the Genealogical Book of the Tver Nobility (1787 – 1869), the volume presents 1,429 family genealogical tables. The appended section (often missing in surviving copies) contains supplementary materials and the alphabetical index of noble surnames.
Lithographed throughout, the edition retains the visual style of contemporary manuscript-tables, and the large folio format (34 × 48 cm) reflects its prestige and intended use as reference material rather than casual reading.
This work is cited in institutional catalogues (e.g., the Russian Presidential Library catalogue) as a rare bibliographic item.
Condition of This Copy:
Without the appendix. Binding shows wear and rubbing. Original printed wrappers have been mounted on thicker paper. Rather amateur bookbinder work.
Bibliographic Note:
Lithographed throughout. Limited edition of 150 copies. Cited in Savelov, Bibliographic Index on Genealogy (St. Petersburg, 1912). Surviving institutional holdings appear to be minimal.
Very rare; complete copies (with appendix) are almost unobtainable on the commercial market. A significant primary-reference for Tver-gubernia nobility and regional genealogical studies.
