Howdy Doody was hugely important in the history of television. The creator, “Buffalo” Bob Smith, first performed Howdy Doody as a radio character and transitioned to TV in 1949 enabling Howdy Doody to rapidly evolve into a national media superstar hawking sponsored products on TV & in print.
