This 'Jail Mail Cache' has letters from California friends and family-- with personal news, encouraging words and occasional money sent to beloved 'Ta-Ta'.

'Ta-Ta's people have hard lives-- all her men are in prison (her dad, her infant daughter Blessing's babyfather, her longtime boyfriend Terry M). Their letters seem to pull Ta-Ta in different directions.... 'Ta-Ta's female relatives have troubles too-- her mom, in her 60s is fulltime guardian of grandbaby Blessing and struggling with tight money, unemployment, and keeping a car out of the shop....; there are strong hints of conflict between 'Ta-Ta' and the sister who's caring for D'Shawnna, Ta-ta's young son.
