Item Details

Very good.

After the August 1904 discoveries of gold at Bullfrog, Nevada a rush to the area ensued and in November a new townsite named for Union veteran and longtime rancher Montillus Murray "Jim" Beatty was laid out by Bob Montgomery a new settler.  Though Beatty had no mines itself, it was an important supply point for the surrounding camps and in 1905 the town grew to include a post office and numerous businesses, including the Montgomery Hotel built by Bob Montgomery.

The Montgomery Cafe was located in the Montgomery Hotel, Beatty, Nevada,  The Cafe's menu features the famed T. G. Nicklin map of the Bullfrog area.  The famous map of the Bullfrog Mining District was designed by T. G. Nicklin, editor of the Bullfrog Miner in Beatty, Nevada, shortly after the founding of the town.  Beatty is shown at the Bullfrog's heart.  The Bullfrog Miner was published between April 1905 and July1906.

Menu is circa 1905.  The hotel was moved to Pioneer in 1908.
