Three heart in hand and braided hair mementos from three sisters in 1853. The first one in the upper left says "Here is a bit of my Heire my hand and Heart. if I am gone In a distant land If this your see your Think of me For Fear I Might Forgotten Bee." Mary Ann Brugh January the 16, 1853. This item was featured in On Women Friendship A Collection of Victorian Keepsakes and Traditions by Starr Ockenga on page 117 published in 1995. The second one below the first says "Margaret Brugh January the 16 1853". The third one says "If i should From this world Depart you'd have A bit of my Heir my hand and heart if we Could no more each other see You could still remember me." Ann Elizabeth Brugh January the 16 1853" These items came from Sarah Brough's braid album from the Joe and Honey Freedman Collection.
The three items were removed from the album at some point and have been framed in original period frames. 4 3/4" x 6 1/2", 4 3/4" x 4 3/4", 5" x 6"
