[Hollywood, CA], [Murray and Gee, Inc], [1946], Softcover
A seminal book of house plans and designs by famed African American Architect Paul R. Williams.
NEW HOMES FOR TODAY Remodeling, Interiors, Duplexes, Ranch Houses.
Paul Williams. Published by [Murray and Gee, Inc], [Hollywood, CA] [1946]. Illustrated wrappers, 80 pages.
Most commonly found in hardcover, this is the softcover release from the original publisher. For the wrappers, they used a cut down version of the original dustjacket. This release is rather uncommon, I suspect that after they bound the initial run there were some random text blocks and dust jackets left and they got creative. VERY GOOD Condition: spots of foxing to the covers, title page and inside front cover has off-setting from laid-in paper, otherwise, tight, bright, clean and unmarked.
Paul Revere Williams, FAIA (1894-1980) Legendary, trailblazing Black architect known as the “Architect to the Stars.” Over his 50 year career, he designed more than 3,000 buildings, primarily in Southern California, and broke monumental racial barriers in the field of architecture. He designed the homes of numerous celebrities, such as Frank Sinatra, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, Lon Chaney, Barbara Stanwyck, and Charles Correll. He also designed many commercial, institutional and civic buildings.
