ORIGINAL JAPANESE AMERICAN BUDDHIST FUNERALS IN HONOLULU HAWAII

Two Black & White Panoramic Photographs by Tanigawa Photo Studio, Pawaa Honolulu:
Funeral of the late Tsuyo Kinoshita, February 20, 1949 : 8” x 42.5” 
Funeral of the late Yoshiro Shimo, October 21, 1949 : 8” x 30.5”

Both Photographs are in GOOD + CONDITION: a few edge tears, light age toning, and a few small stains mostly to the margins, overall sharp and bright. Uncommon.

It was customary for a panoramic funeral photograph to be taken at Japanese American Buddhist services in Hawaii that include the deceased and attendees of the service. The venue is unknown but Pawaa is a predominantly Japanese neighborhood in Honolulu.
