Oblong 4to (11 1/8" x 14 3/8"). Hand-colored lithographic pictorial title page followed by 6 hand-colored lithographic plates. Bound in contemporary marbled paper cover boards with gilt-lettered spine label. Foxing, moreso to title page & facing page; the first three plates have short tape at front edge; the fourth plate has shadow on edge; darkening to book covers and general wear to extremities. Complete copies of this work are rare.
Early humorous and satirical lithographs by the celebrated French caricaturist Henry Monnier (1799–1877), with the lithographs executed by François-Séraphin Delpech (1778–1825), one of the leading French lithographic printers and engravers of the Restoration period. These lithographs depict Parisian society during the Restoration, capturing the manners, fashions, professions, and eccentricities of the emerging French middle class.
