[ALASKA]  [MINING]  [PROSPECTUS] Weir Brothers & Co.  Scarce illustrated prospectus with colored fold-out map of the Daly Alaska Mines Company, Salmon River, Alaska (New York: Weir Brothers & Co., 1922).

Tan paper wraps with maps of the Daly Alaska Mines Co.’s claims along the Salmon River, Alaska, close to the British Columbia border; frontis and other illustrations from photos; 12 pp; fold-out colored map tipped onto the inside back cover; prospectus measures 11 x 8.5 inches.  Some toning and chipping around the edges of the covers; pieces missing from upper right corner of cover; closed tear near middle top of front cover; text and fold-out map are in VG+ condition.  [19-364]

The map, drawn by E. Hence & Co, NY, is titled “Exhibit “C” / Vertical Projection / along / Course of Daly Creek / Daly Alaska Mines Co. / Salmon River, Alaska / Aug. 7, 1922 / Andrew G. Larson, EM”.  The maps on the front and back covers, also drawn by E. Hence & Co are Exhibits A & B.

The text includes two pages about the history and mining being done in the region and suggests that the Daly Alaska will be the next big producer of gold/silver ore.  Eight pages are devoted to the work being done on the Daly Alaska claims, supplemented with photos.  All the mining operations were being down through tunnels, “the most economic lode mining known.”  One of the Weir Brothers’ summary points was “The property is in such close proximity to and on the strike of the Premier, conceded to be one of the largest and most spectacular gold-silver mines in the world.”

A very scarce Alaska mining prospectus, only three copies are recorded in OCLC (Alaska State Library, University of Alaska / Fairbanks, and Stanford).
