1902 “Surrender of Geronimo” Article in The Junior Magazine for Young and Old

First-hand account of “The Surrender of Geronimo”, an article by Harry Robinson Wright, Scout, Fourth Cavalry, U. S. Army. Wright was part of the extensive army effort to capture the Native American Apache leader for over a year before he finally surrendered in 1886. The detailed account is interesting for its emotional tone—Wright seems to alternate between frustration at the often fruitless pursuit, anger at the army lives lost, and admiration for Geromino’s stealth and skill.

The article was published in “The Junior, A Monthly Magazine for Young and Old” in November 1902, Vol. 1, No. 2, and I can find no record of the magazine nor the article. Wright did write later article in 1905, "In the Days of Geronimo” in Pearson’s magazine, but that account is somewhat different.

The magazine has some splitting of spine, loss at corners, edge staining, and a tiny hole on the first page. There is also substantial information on philately (stamp collecting) in this issue.
