Washington DC, US War Department, 1943, Stapled Wraps
1st/1st
Here is a wonderful item--written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss, but not for children, for GIs in World War II. "This is Ann--she's dying to meet you" was published by the US War Department to warn on the dangers of malaria. Instead of a dry warning booklet, this is a very entertaining work printed in black and red. "Ann" is short for Anopheles Mosquito....
The booklet is dated August 1943-543637 with a blank rear cover. According to the Younger's First Editions of Dr. Seuss Books, these points identify it as the first of approximately five printings of this booklet. Fully illustrated by Seuss on all of its approx 32 pages. 4 1/4 by 5 1/4" in size.
Complete with light staining to cover, and tiny depressions to last two leaves. All pages attached to staples, and no writing or tears. A very desirable item for Seuss collectors, and especially difficult to find in the first printing.
