Item Details

Well, here is probably the weirdest item I’ve come across to sell. This is a huge, original art card for the retirement of Robert Draut. Apparently Robert worked for a condom testing lab, a.k.a. the “Wham Bam Testing Lab”. The front of the card depicts him sitting naked on his desk facing a woman who says “Boy, Draut, you either came from outer space or county purchasing if you think I’ll help you test rubbers your way”…. Various funny scenarios in the background as well. The inside of the card feathers scores of signatures from Bob’s co-workers.

The card measures 10”x15”, is made with line art and watercolor, and has some wear as shown. Signed on the front by “Don Randall” and on the back is hand-penned “Trojan Cards, A Subsidiary of USC”--so apparently this lab was located at or affiliated with the University of Southern California, perhaps as part of their sexual health and free condoms program. Circa 1980s-90s.
