Item Details

Dr. A.C. Ayer's Sarsaparilla Advertising Doll Sign, Lowell, Mass., 1884, Thick Cardboard Sign with Reverse Stand-Up Easel Tabs

Big:  8 x 11 inches!

"The Old Folks at Home."

140+ years old. Flaws as shown.

Ayer & Co. issued 4 large Chromolithographed "Statuette" paper doll style pieces in this series:

The Deacon, The Country Doctor, Santa Claus and The Old Folks at Home.

Santa and this one, "The Old Folks," seem to be the hardest to find, especially with good backs.

Ayer's Sarsaparilla: "Blood Purifier" for Catarrh, Rheumatism, Female Weakness, Pimples, Blotches, Eruptions of the Skin, Boils, Carbuncles, Stomach, Kidneys, Liver... even Tumors!

"Many Aged People... Like the venerable couple who are represented on the face of this card...."

NOTE:  This scarce piece identifies itself as:  1.  "this card" / 2. a "Chromo Lithograph" / 3. a "Statuette"

Fabulous piece for the right Museum Drugstore Exhibit or Bottle Room Pharmacy Display.  Sturdy and self-standing, but suffers the usual bit of dullish color fading typical of 140+ year old lithographs.

"FARMER JOHN: 'Wife!  This has been our Stay through Life.'"

"MARTHA: 'Yes, John.  It has been a Blessing to Us and Our Children.'"
