64pp.; 4to; Quarter green cloth and marbled paper over board. Brown leather spine label lettered in gilt. Bound in at the back, in original illustrated pink wrappers, an issue of Lectures pour Tous, Revue Universelle Illustree, April,1909. The first six pages are devoted to Les Etapes D'Une Sainte, with a full page frontis of a sculpture of Joan D' Arc; and photographs of church scenes and drawings about her canonization. Text in French.
Rubbing to board edges, with leading bottom corners bumped and rubbed through at the tip; spine label with loss at top corner and some remnants of clear tape over the top. Tanning to endpapers and title page with brown tape reinforcement at foredge of title, and lighter tape reinforcement foredge of first page.
The postulator for Joan of Arc's cause for sainthood was Arthur Captier, the Superior General of the Society of St Sulpice, around the late 19th century. He was a key figure in the process of having the Church officially recognize the miracles attributed to Joan, which led to her beatification in 1893 and her eventual canonization in 1920
