Chronicle of the Ohio River Flood of 1937, which began on 18 January with predictions being issued that the river might rise to a 59-foot crest. By Tuesday the 19th, the flood waters had surged to an officially recorded peak of 79.99 feet, shattering all records, before & since. The end of the flood, when waters dropped below the flood stage of 52 feet, did not occur until 5 February, a period described in this keepsake booklet as “19 days filled with excitement, menace, & disaster.” The raging waters also impacted northern Kentucky (particularly Louisville, where 70% of the city was reportedly under water at one time) & other states (though none of them are depicted here). Approximately 158 black-and-white photos (attributed only to "Crescent") document the devastation, which amazingly resulted in the loss of only 8 lives. Oblong 24mo (9.25” x 6”) has mustard-colored wrappers lettered & ruled in black to front cover. Unpaginated [32 pp]. Stapled binding. Condition is Good: significant exterior surface soiling, mild dogearing to corners of front cover, slight tearing at both ends of spine. Interior quite clean with bright white margins, crisp duotone photographic images. This booklet rarely survived though, as OCLC only lists holdings in 4 US libraries,
