Two scrapbooks compiled by the WPA (Works Progress Administration) City Public Library Extension Project, 1938. #1 “Early Los Angeles,” 42pp. #2 “Old Los Angeles,” 45 + 4 blank pages. VG.

Both are bound in stiff brown file folder/card stock paper wrappers with spine & corners in orange cloth tape. Sewn binding. Paginated by hand. Each contains clippings from period newspapers & magazines that describe the founding & historical development of the “City of Angels,’’ with text complemented with vintage photographs, maps, line drawings, & art from the famed WPA murals. Some overlap, with 7 of the 14 articles new & 7 duplicated in each book. Book #1 has 42 pp, #2 has 45 + 4 blank pages.

Deaccessioned from the San Diego Public Library. Condition is VG: light soil & creasing to exterior, some sticker residue/peeling to both front covers. Modest creasing & edgewear, heaviest to front cover of book #2.
