I began in the book business in 1980, cutting my teeth at Powell's Bookstore and Acres of Books (Long Beach, CA.). In 1987 I opened the bookshop, William James-Bookseller, in scenic and culturally rich Port Townsend, WA., which I sold to Paul Stafford in 2012. since then I have been operating online and via book fairs as James Catley-Bookseller, out of San Marcos, CA.
