There are 9 years of minutes. Included are the years 1877, 1878, 1880,1886, 1887, 1891, 1892, 1898, and 1899. Reports of all of the activities of the church are included. The earlier issues include "ON FREEDMAN'S AID SOCIETY". In the 1877 issue the report reads in part "If the colored race among us are a despised people, we are called to see to it that active Christian effort is made to lift them up." Clearly West Virginia had its struggles as a new state and challenges to be met by the Methodist Episcopal Church. This will require extra postage because of weight.
