From the forward....."On September 21, 1976, pursuant to an act of Congress, a ceremony was held at the Library of Congress christening the building formerly known as "the Annex" with its proper name: The Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress. At this ceremony, Dumas Malone delivered this address which later became a chapter in his 6th volume of the Life of Thomas Jefferson.
