There are 12 items that came from the estate of James Waldo Fawcett, an editor of the Washington Star. He was a serious fan of Walt Whitman and spoke about him on many occasions. He was also a friend of Horace Traubel, Whitman's executor. Included are two typed copies of letters to Traubel from Fawcett while unsigned they mention Fawcett's wife. One als from Traubel to Fawcett dated June 7, l9l7. Fawcett's membership card to the WALT WHITMAN FOUNDATION and an acknowledgment from the Foundation. 2 programs from the Community Church of New York for May 27, 1923 and June 1, 1924 announcing the Annual Walt Whitman Festival which Fawcett presided over. Publisher's announcements for Emory Holloway's The Uncollected Poetry and Prose of Walt Whitman, David Karsner's Horace Traubel, His Life and Work and William Sloane Kennedy's The Fight of a Book for the World published by Stonecroft Press in 1926. A copy of The Association News Bulletin from February 1940 where Whitman to be theme Center and a copy of The Modern School, A Monthly Magazine Devoted to Libertarian Ideas in Education, April -May 1919 Walt Whitman Number. Also included is Fawcett's speech entitled Walt Whitman, A Sketch Biography, at the February 20, 1940 meeting of the Association of South Jersey Stamp Clubs.
