Lucy Ambler relates the John Brown Raid as to the surroundings of Harper's Ferry and Charles Town, Virginia in 1859. She notes the importance of the Richmond Grays for their service and for the capture of John Brown. There is a newspaper clipping on the title page which has stained it and the opposite front cover. This was privately printed.
