[Connecticut River Boundary Dispute — With Folding Map]
Adams, Welles, et al. The Boundary Line Between the Towns of Wethersfield and Glastonbury, History of the Controversy Before the General Assembly, and a Statement of Facts and Reasons in Behalf of the Town of Wethersfield. Hartford: The Case, Lockwood & Brainard Co., Printers, 1874.
First edition. 8vo, original printed wrappers, 7 pp. plus the folding map (as issued) depicting the various channels of the Connecticut River dividing the two towns. The dispute centered on whether the shifting course of the river should determine the official boundary line—a controversy originating in 1690. The folding map (8 ½ × 13 in.) traces the river’s channel changes since that date. The front wrapper has a small chip along the top edge, otherwise a very good copy.
Keywords: Connecticut, Wethersfield, Glastonbury, maps, Connecticut River, boundary disputes, 19th-century local history, New England cartography, Hartford imprint, Case Lockwood & Brainard.
