281pp. First edition. Near fine. Rear interior hinge splitting(4") but holding fast. Long manuscript presentation by California landscape artist Henry Joseph Breuer (1860-1932). In 1888 he settled in San Francisco as editor of the San Francisco Chronicle and the California Magazine. 1900-1904 he travelled extensively throughout Navajo Country including extended stays in Canyon de Chelly and Chaco Canyon. It was during this period that he became acquainted with Mary Austin.
