In 1993 Peter Palmquist and John Carpenter proposed expanding a cursory biography of Weed Peter had  produced for the Fall 1979 issue of California History magazine. Even with Peter's connections it was a daunting task. Institutional holdings were meager at best and only a few advanced collectors were even aware of Charles Weed. It went on the back burner. Following Peters death in 2003 the project notes were transferred to Yale where they languished until uncovered by Mr. Kruska 20+ years latter. 

The timing was perfect. What Kruska accomplished would not have been possible in 1993.
