Item Details

n.p. [Gstaad], [Galerie Saqqârah], n.d. [1998], Soft cover

Very Good

Rare brochure for a joint exhibition of works by Ju Ming (1938-2023) and Chiu Ya Tsai (1949-2013).

The publisher isn't stated, but the brochure was issued by Galerie Saqqârah of Switzerland, which organized exhibitions for the two Taiwan artists in 1998 and 1999 in Switzerland and France. In addition, there's a quote on the rear cover by Georges Marci, the grande dame of contemporary art in Switzerland and founder of Galerie Saqqârah in Gstaad. There's also a separate sheet laid in about an exhibition of the two artists in Basel in June 1999.

Except for the front cover, the text is entirely in English and includes a brief article by Taiwan arts writer Maggie Pai on Chiu Ya Tsai. High-quality color illustrations throughout.

No institutional holdings listed in OCLC, although a separate search turns up holdings at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and at the Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong. None in commerce. RARE.

PHYSICAL DETAILS: Quarto (11.7 x 8.25 inches; 295 x 210 mm), [8] pages, in stapled, illustrated wrappers (soft cover). Separate sheets laid in listing exhibitions by Chiu Ya Tsai and information about an exhibition in Basel.

CONDITION: Light edge wear, a couple of small scrapes to the front cover. Very Good or better.
