Good

  New York Pro Rata Freight petition, a broadside printed on top half of sheet. " Your petitioners of [blank] county of [blank] pray for the passage of a law; providing for the better government and regulation of railroads, and their freight tariffs, so as to enable the inhabitants of this state to avail themselves of the benefits contemplated in their creation... " The petitioners request: First - The Classification of all property carried by Rail Roads into the various classes, up which, different rates of Freight are imposed. Second - Their Freight Tariffs shall be made at a rat, or sum certain PER MILE, long or short distances PRO RATA, and shall advertise such Classification and Freight Tariff up each class, by keeping a copy of the same posted in their Freight Depots. Third - Winter Tariffs shall not be increased to exceed 25 per cent upon summer Tariffs. Fourth - to provide such guards against evasion and penalties for violation, as to your Hon. Body shall seem meet and proper. Superb train and steamship cut on onion skin/bible paper with one signature to the form, which shows foxing and wrinkling/.  Good +. Broadside .  (30670)
