Richard Mason: The World of Suzie Wong. London, Collins, 1957
First UK Edition
Book and unclipped dust jacket both in very good condition.
The most well‑known book by British writer Richard Mason, it inspired the 1960 movie with William Holden.
The story takes place in a hotel in Hong Kong, where Mason spent four months in 1956. The hotel is in fact more of a brothel. The young hero, an artist, falls passionately in love with a Chinese woman who works there as a prostitute.
A truly captivating story, extremely well told.
