Striking portrait, seemingly taken within the church. Choir robes & many wearing traditional ministry collars.

 

Banner left reads R.R. Riggs Chapter No. 9407 // Junior League w/ Look Up, Lift Up motto. At right, Whatcoat Epworth // M.E. Church.

 

Epworth League was a widespread youth group, originally founded in 1889, though  the Whatcoat delineation here points to a congregation once part of the historic Orchard Street Church in Baltimore, Maryland.

 

R.R. Riggs identity requires further research. F of EL is likely as simple as Friends or Fraternity of Epworth League.

 

Trimmed (long ago) to 6 x 8” w/ corner loss and edge flaking.
