Item Details

OLDS Gasoline Engines // Lansing Mich. hand-painted banner, two showmen up front & an older gentleman removed to the background.

First founded in 1880 by P.F. Olds, it was his son Ransom E. Olds responsible for the world famous Oldsmobile automobile brand. Though the men here are unidentified, they are likely family members w/ the man behind bearing a striking resemblance to Ransom. Message may assist an expert in their research:

10-12-1909 : We had a snow storm I had all arrangements for a trial today but Mr. D. has not got back. He will be home tomorrow will try and have trial tomorrow. I may not be able to go to city Saturday I will let you know. I expect to be down Thursday.

This could refer to George B. Selden’s Olds engine patent trial against Ford that was settled in November (just one month from this date).

Consistent light soiling, cancellation impression & minor corner wear.
