First edition. Bookseller's ticket on the front pastedown, else a near fine copy.

"Cochlaeus, a Nuremberg Schoolteacher, the author of some grammars and geographical commentaries...was a great favorite of E.P. Goldschmidt - he read through all his books, especially the prefaces (he often said, 'Read the preface, rememember Dibdin')" - Ernst Weil in his memoir of Goldschmidt in Journal of the History of Medicine for April 1954, p. 229.

Goldschmidt published Johannes Cochlaeus and a Problem in XVIth Century Cartography in the Geographical Journal in 1933, citing this book as his only authority.
