First edition. A fine copy. Illustrated in full color.
This beautifully produced and informative catalog was published by the Stanford Libraries in conjunction with their exhibition for Leonard's Library that commemorated the five-hundredth anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci. The exhibition took place May 2 - October 13, 2019. The author and the essayists explore such interesting topics as Leonardo's quest to teach himself Latin, how he grappled with difficult ideas, his life in the age of Gutenberg, and more.
Following the text is a description of each book included in the exhibition with many illustrations, followed by Leonardo's own list of his books, and a comprehensive bibliography.
