First edition, and the true first UK edition (Kirkpatrick A23a; Woolmer 440). Spine lightly age-darkened, minor chipping to edges of the jacket, minor soiling to jacket. Endpapers toned, minor foxing to endsheets, else a near fine copy. Woolf's book-length essay on the question of war and its prevention; a companion volume to The Years (1937). Jacket design by Vanessa Bell (priced at 7s. 6d. net to front flap and spine). One of slightly more than half of the 16,250 copies printed bound thus - the remainder were issued in the Uniform Edition(s) in 1943 (1,000 copies) and 1947 (7,250).

Orders in the USA are normally shipped using the US Postal Service Media Mail. Other services such as UPS and air mail through the US Postal Service are available upon request. Foreign shipments are sent via USPS International Mail, which generally arrives within 2-3 weeks. In the U.S., standard shipping cost will be $8.50 for first volume and $1.00 for each additional volume. If ordering outside the U.S., postage is calculated based on weight and destination.
