[Salt Lake City, UT]: [ca 1879]. 8vo. 28pp. Pages toned and brittle with minor chipping. Laid in a makeshift folder with handwritten title.
Brigham Young (1801-1877) served as the second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was the first governor of the Utah Territory. He was a practicing polygamist with 56 wives and 57 children and at the time of his death was the wealthiest individual in Utah. It's not surprising then that his death led to major legal and financial battles between his executors. The church asserted that much of his property actually belonged to the church in trust, and that his estate was heavily indebted to the church. Conversely, some family members and critics alleged that church leadership manipulated or subverted the estate distribution, accusing church leaders of financial trickery and collusion against the heirs. This is all laid out in Fraud on the Will.
Scarce with only 4 holdings in OCLC of the two pamphlets together. Most recent auction record for either title in 2006.
