Paris, Ligue National Contre l'Alcoolisme, 1918-early 1920s
First, Fair. See image for details.
This is a French broadside issued by the National League Against Alcoholism announcing an anti-alcoholism public meeting and cinema screening. Dating from the period after WW I, it calls for a general mobilization for a major public meeting against the excessive consumption of alcohol—described here as a destructive scourge upon the country. Featured speakers include a Mme. Séverine whose topic was Women and alcohol (La femme et l'alcool).
A French poster tax stamp is attached (see image), featuring the classic "Médaillon de Tasset” profile design used by the French government to collect tax revenue on public advertisements and posters during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
