Japan, Not published, 1800s
Unique, Very good condition. See description and photos.
Four small finely painted examples of Japanese Shunga art.
Presumed to be late Edo period, possibly later 1800s.
Each has silk fabric mounting strips on top and bottom, indicating these paintings were originally mounted in a hand-scroll.
7.25 x 7.25 inches each with mounting strips, 5.25 x 7.25 without.
Shunga were more widely produced as ukiyo-e woodblock prints. Painted examples are much less common.
Uncensored images available upon request.
