First edition, one of a stated 250 copies SIGNED BY CALVINO. A beautiful production, printed by hand on Fabriano Roma paper "during the dog days of August, by the Grenfell Press." Small 4to plain black paper boards backed in white cloth with silvery gray pattern; pale gray paper spine label lettered in black; frontispiece woodcut of "Mr. Palomar" and red initial letters by L. Grenfelli; 25 pages plus colophon. In original opaque glassine dust jacket with reduced image from frontis printed in white on front. Bookmark-style black errata leaf printed in silvery gray correcting binding credits to "A. Horowitz & Sons" laid in at rear. Fine in fine dust jacket. Understandably scarce.
