Numerous works by Paul Iribe, on full pages or double-page spreads, mixing drawing, photography, photomontage, typography and graphic techniques characteristic of avant-garde advertising of the era.
1. Blanc et Rouge – Booklet No. 1 – 1930, 24 pages
First publication of the series, drawn by Paul Iribe and published by the wine seller Nicolas Établissements.
Spectacular album in which Iribe develops a genuine defense of French wine through particularly bold graphic compositions. The work marks the starting point of this advertising trilogy that has become emblematic of Nicolas' production.
2. Rose et Noir – The Bad Genius, 1931, Booklet No. 2 – 1931, 24 pages + booklet with "Dialogue Moderne En Trois Temps Et Trois Cocktails" by Rene Benjamin, 16 pages, bound in.
This second booklet adopts a deliberately dark and satirical tone around glamorous drinking and cocktails. It features large compositions by Paul Iribe playing with silhouettes, shadows and photographic contrasts.
The copy shows foxing and stains, notably on some illustrations and margins, as well as signs of use and rubbing on the cover, visible in the photographs.
3. Bleu Blanc Rouge – 1932, with four fold-out illustrations, plus two one page illustrations, one in color.
Third and final booklet of the set, a spectacular graphic manifesto celebrating French wine while developing an economic and political satire of the contemporary world.Paul Iribe deploys some of the series’ most impressive compositions, industrial architectures, bottles, money, oil, references to imperialism and symbolic confrontations between different economic and national models. The set alternates powerful black-and-white compositions with color pages.
Signs of wear, rubbing and minor faults on the covers. Some foxing and interior stains, more pronounced in Rose et Noir, as shown in the photographs.
