An influential cartoonist, Sterrett is best remembered for his popular comic strip, "Polly and Her Pals," with Paw being the main and most recognizable character. The comic strip was syndicated through Hearst publications from 1912-1958, when Sterrett retired. Sterrett led the way for comic strips with central female characters.
