Includes southern tip of South America, Falkland Islands, South Shetland Islands, Lord Auckland Isles, West Cape, Van Dieman Island, Island of Desolation, Marion & Crozet's Isles plus many smaller islands. Larger land masses outlined in hand coloring.
Published by The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, which was founded three years earlier in London, by Lord Brougham. The Society's goal was to provide education of the aspiring working class and the Utilitarian ideal of 'Knowledge is Power.'
