Brown pictorial printed wrappers with glued binding and yapp edges. Title in black on front and spine plus gothic gilt design by Dan Sweeney on front. Previous owner's bookplate inside front board; that of California historian Charles B. Turrill. With original glassine wrapper. Glassine is chipped at bottom edge. Interior sharp and clean. Very good condition.
The 1926 Bohemian Grove play, "Truth", was written by member George Sterling in a complete re-write of his 1923 play of the same name. The Grove Play is produced annually, often written, produced and performed by and for Bohemian Club members. The play is performed only once and staged outdoors at the Bohemian Grove 2,700-acre property in Monte Rio, California.
The 1926 stage spectacle cast of 173 actors and extras, 27 dancers, and a choir of about thirty boy singers from Grace Cathedral. Sparing no expense Sterling brought in 58 San Francisco Symphony musicians to perform the music written and conducted by Domenico Brescia.
Italian born Domenico Brescia wrote music for the 1919 Grove play, "Life". 7 years later George Sterling invited Brescia to compose the music for Sterling's Grove Play entitled "Truth".
