Both the type and woodcut were printed on a Vandercook 219, a hand operated letterpress, on gray Rives BFK. Presented in an edition of 100 numbered and signed copies of which 75 are for sale. This is copy number 7. Currently framed with broadside laid down on dark green mat. Signed by Doig and woodblock artist Susan Lowdermilk.
Ivan Doig was born in White Sulphur Springs, Montana in 1939 and grew up along the Rocky Mountain Front. Much of his writing springs from and revisits that place. His first book, the highly acclaimed memoir This House of Sky (1978), was a finalist for the National Book Award in Contemporary Thought and received a Christopher Award, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award and the Governor's Writer's Day Award. Doig would go on to write sixteen fiction and non-fiction titles, many set in his beloved Montana. Doig's books celebrate the landscape and people of the American West.
