Small disparate collection of correspondence regarding various themes of stamp collecting.
November 11, 1948--TLS from Frederick Langford to E.A. Davis of Seattle concerning the field of "Flag Cancels" and Langford's efforts to compile a catalog of such. Among other titles, Langford published "History of Flag Cancel Collecting, 1940-1961" and was an acknowledged expert in the field.
June and September 1958--Two ALS from Walter N. Frickstad to "Dr. Kiser" regarding California Post Office history. Frickstad is the author of " A Century of California Post Offices
1848-1954" published by Philatelic Research Society, Oakland, California in 1955.
1968-1969--Four letters (2 ALS and 2 TLS) between Harry L. Fine of Mesa, Arizona and Victor B. Smith of Mendocino, California. Subjects are philatelic covers and postmarks. Fine wrote numerous articles on the subject, some of which were published in "Stamps" magazine. Smith specialized in Oregon Stage Company material while Fine's interests were in intermountain west pre-statehood covers with a specialized interest in Montana Territory and Fort Laramie.
