Item Details

Yewicasipi Taanpetupi En--Wotanin Waste Ayapi, Eli Abraham and Jesse Lyman Hurlbut, Santee N.T.S. Press, Santee, Nebraska, 1925. 6 1/8 x 4 1/2 inches, 62pp.

Brown staple bound cardstock printed wrappers. Very good condition. Small smudge mark to front wrapper. Otherwise very clean. Interior leaves are clean. Binding remains tight.

Wonderfully preserved tract from the print shop of the Santee Normal School, in Santee Nebraska. The school was founded by Reverend Alfred L. Riggs, a Congregational missionary, in 1870 to provide education for the Santee Sioux, who had been displaced from their ancestral home in Minnesota after the 1862 Sioux uprising.  Among many vocational programs, Riggs set up a full print shop where students produced Sioux language booklets and tracts.  The school closed in 1936.

This publication is a partial translation of the "Outline of the Life of Paul", as published in a Biblical Atlas by Hurlbut & Vincent, translated by Eli Abraham and first published in Santee in 1895. This is the second edition. Both editions are scarce in commerce.

Includes 5 maps.
