Item Details

A striking 2.5 x 3” tintype photograph of a young man posed full-length in a studio setting, standing beside an upholstered chair and architectural backdrop. He wears a bold checked shirt with placket front, dark trousers, and holds his broad-brimmed hat in one hand. The clarity of the image and his confident posture make this a strong vernacular portrait of post-Civil War rural or working-class youth. The tintype is housed in a partial pressed paper case with gold oval mat and embossed brass preserver.

Condition:

The photograph is in very good condition with strong contrast and minimal surface wear. The case is missing its front half; rear half is intact and retains its clasp.
